"The GOP has, for the past 40 years, had at its primary goal the prevention of government from doing anything. They only have three goals. 1) severely curtail immigration. 2) eliminate taxation 3) eliminate government regulation."

Wrong. GOP goals have always been to pass laws and enable enforcement of those laws to prevent illegal immigration. Their goals have never been to "eliminate taxation". Doing so would eliminate the source of their own pay which makes absolutely no sense. Instead their goals have been to allow citizens to keep more of their hard-earned money instead of sending it to a bloated and inefficient federal government. Similarly, the goal is not to "eliminate government regulation"; but to eliminate government regulations which are more about expanding government control than serving any "legitimate" purpose. Doing so makes it easier for citizens to pursue opportunities that improve their lives and contribute to society.

Democrats generally favor more federal government intervention and control. Their answer to every question is "more government".

Republicans generally favor less government intervention and control.

If there is a fundamental difference between the two, that is it.
