Thanks, you have an interesting analysis.

Since you brought up a supposed Republican concept of "personal responsibility" and how that might affect the Black people of New Orleans, and since we are in an election year, let's also consider the Party control of those closest to the problem, mainly New Orleans' Mayor and City Council.

New Orleans has had a Democrat mayor since 1874.

All current members of the New Orleans City Council are Democrats. Given the mayoral history, I think it's a good bet a majority of the New Orleans City Council Members have been Democrats.

Note – I know Wikipedia is a poor source and I don't use it much except for stuff like it's used here.

Perhaps if the people of New Orleans would consider electing leaders from a different Party, those leaders could positively affect factors contributing to the so-called Racial Wealth Gap.

But, I have never heard or read a Republican define "personal responsibility" to suggest people don't get ahead SOLELY because they "do not work hard enough or lack the values needed to foster personal and familial success." They may exist. I just can't find the right search terms to figure that out for this article.

Of course, hard work and values society expects (obeying the law, respecting the personal and private property of others, pursuing a quality education whether that means college or a vocational school, etc.) will ALWAYS affect wealth regardless of race.

Also, I have no doubt that many Black kids (probably just like their parents) have been trapped in failing schools and lack the same educational opportunities as some White kids. Those affected should remember in November which Party, up and down the electorate, votes to keep them in those failing schools because the Teacher's Unions are a campaign cash cow for them (Democrats).

Conversely, which Party is it that overwhelmingly supports School Choice so that kids can escape those failing schools and get an education that can help close any Racial Wealth Gap that may exist? Oh yeah, it's those dastardly Republicans.

It wouldn't take much to erase any so-called Racial Wealth Gap in one or two generations with the right people in charge. All it takes is a few votes to change from those REALLY against their own self interests to those who support the policies that can positively affect any Racial Wealth Gap.
