So, under your "wanton leadership failure" expansion for impeachment, would that include leaving diplomats to die in a terrorist attack in a foreign country?

Might it include allowing one of your senior Cabinet Members to purposefully, repeatedly, and with complete disregard allow information classified at the highest level to transit an unsecured, personal email server?

I just want to understand the purpose and limitations. I mean, I believe the Founders viewed Impeachment as a last resort and only for "extreme" cases. They purposely didn't define "high crimes and misdemeanors" because they were concerned they couldn't anticipate what things might necessitate removing a duly elected President. They left it in the hands of Congress to decide and required more than a simple majority of Senators to convict.

I believe they viewed removing a President for strictly subjective political reasons would be detrimental to the Republic. Attempting removal for "wanton leadership failure" would be politically subjective and putting the country through an Impeachment for political reasons would be harmful (see 2016).

Many would disagree (including me) with your assertion that the impeachment process failed "because Democrats did not control the Senate".

It failed because one Article of Impeachment ridiculously tried to remove a duly elected President for exercising his right to seek resolution of conflicts between a co-equal branch of government (Legislative) through the third co-equal branch (Judicial).

The second Article of Impeachment did not reach the standard for removing the President.

It appears your answer to reform the Senate is to turn it into a second House? What sense does that make?

If it's just going to be another House, why not simply eliminate it?

Giving each state two Senators was done SPECIFICALLY to give smaller states equal representation as larger states to prevent a tyranny of the majority. It's simply another of the brilliant checks and balances established by the Founders.

What incentive would a smaller populated state like Iowa have to remain in the Union if they were completely subject to the values and priorities of the California or New York?

Finally, you're making the leap Biden is going to win the election and Democrats will maintain their House majority and attain majority in the Senate. Just be prepared for that fantasy NOT to come to fruition.
