So, in answer to my question, you believe there should be “reparations” and apparently the United States being “given back to a people whose entire continent was stolen”.

Great. My question still stands: how does society implement your “reparations” and give back of land to redeem itself?

Who gets the reparations? Does one have to show a certain percentage of black blood to get in on the deal?

Are the level of reparations doled out based on some percentage of black blood? For example, if you have 50% black blood and 50% white blood, does the inherent white privilege of your white blood cancel out your reparations share?

What about Blacks whose ancestors sold other Blacks into slavery or actually owned slaves themselves? Do they similarly have to contribute reparations as white people supposedly would?

How about white people whose ancestors supported abolition and never owned slaves. Do they get a pass?

As far as your land give back, is there a timeframe for which, at that moment, American Indian tribes are awarded the land that they claimed at that point in time?

What if previously, that tribe went to war and defeated another tribe for the land. Does that first tribe now have priority?

How far back did such warring transactions of land occur and don’t you have to get back to “first ownership” to truly give back the land to the people from whom it was first stolen?

So, you believe “general wealth” is pervasive for white people.

According to the Kaiser Foundation, the poverty rate in 2019 was 9% for whites and 21% for Blacks.

kff.org/other/state-indicator/poverty-rate-by-raceethnicity/?currentTimeframe=0&sortModel=%7B”colId”:”Location”,”sort”:”asc”%7D

But, when you consider the percentages of whites and Blacks according to the US Census Bureau, we find that the white population represents 79% of the US and the black population represents 13.4%.

Combining the percentages, we find that 7.11% of whites are below the poverty line. The number of Blacks below the poverty line is 2.814%.

In terms of actual numbers and percentages, those white families you credit with the privilege of “accumulation of generational wealth” are more likely to exist below the poverty then their black brothers and sisters.

It’s easy to say there should be reparations and land givebacks. But, the devil is in the details and you provide none. You offer no real ideas to help society redeem itself. That makes your proposals less than useful.

Please provide evidence that “Republicans [in the 60s] wouldn’t support civil rights progress”.

It wasn’t Republicans who filibustered the Civil Rights Act of 1964. It was Democrat Robert C Byrd who Joe Biden eulogized upon his death. Byrd had been an Exalted Cyclops in the KKK.

It wasn’t Republicans who stood in the door at the University of Alabama to prevent integration. It was Democrat Alabama Governor George Wallace.

It wasn’t Republicans killing Freedom Riders traveling to the south to register Blacks to vote. It was Democrat members of the KKK.

In every piece of landmark Civil Rights legislation passed in 1964 and 1965 Republicans made the deciding vote in both the Senate and the House of Representatives.

Why would racists leave the safety of Democrat relationships in favor of the Party which was literally founded to secure the abolition of slavery and whose members had just voted at a higher rate than Democrats on landmark Civil Rights legislation and whose votes were instrumental in passing historic of civil rights legislation? It’s nonsensical.

If there were so many so-called Dixiecrats (all of them registered Democrats) who were so intent on abandoning their suddenly enlightened Democrat colleagues in favor of joining those racist Republicans, you should be able to compile an exhaustive list. I will wait for the link.

Modern Democrats have simply changed their plantation model from growing cotton to one which exhibits the soft bigotry of low expectations and keeps Blacks dependent on the government. The ultimate goal of Democrats is to retain and grow their power. They could care less about black people… Until elections come around, that is.

You don’t know “everyone”, so you cannot state that “no one” believes Democrats are the more racist Party.

I know it’s an accepted truism by Democrats that they try to deny their racist past and their racist present by citing the alleged “switch” and the movement of “Dixiecats” to the Republican Party because of racism. But, a belief doesn’t make things true.

No one ever said you can change a Democrat’s mind by presenting factual evidence.

I don’t expect to change yours.

I don’t know about your Confederate flag on the lawn question. Is the owner black?
