However, I believe the Senate still requires a 60 vote threshold to reach "cloture" to end debate and move to a vote on a bill.
What Reid and Schumer orchestrated was the elimination of the 60 vote requirement for Federal Judge confirmations. It was known as the "nuclear option" and Republicans said they would come to regret the action.
That regret was realized when McConnell extended the "nuclear option" to include Supreme Court confirmations.
Republicans ended up dropping two big ones on the Democrats named Gorsuch and Kavanaugh with their soon to be a third, Amy Coney Barrett.
